Planets and aspects and houses...oh, my!

First, let me say that I am not very good at providing reviews in this type of forum, but I do use reviews to choose products. So I hope you will take what you can use and leave the rest.
April Kent is a wonderful writer, funny and engaging and (most importantly) able to make a point clearly and concisely. It will be easy for readers of Practical Astrology to systematically piece together the elements of their charts to determine what influences are at play for each area of concern.
For instance, I spent a little time looking at the part of my chart which governs how others see me, and learned that a confusing Neptune in my first house may make it difficult to exert my personality. Fortunately, there is an upside to this placement (a well-known quality of mine) the willingness to defend others. The fact that Saturn is transiting my first house explains why I would even bother to be concerned about this area of life. Aaargh! I "appear" to need more independence and self-respect!
Anyway, this is a great book for new students of astrology, and will provide enough unique perspective to entertain more experienced practitioners.

Essential indeed!

This book is disguised as a fun, informative, and easy-to-read basic book on astrology, but it is really a Pandora's box of giggly "aha" moments and profound "wow" realizations. April Elliott Kent has a unique way of teaching by analogy and imagery, leaving plenty of room to relate to the material in a personal way, either as a casual observer or a serious student.
I have a feeling this book will not end up on the shelf anytime soon. I'm having way too much fun reading it to put it away. I haven't even finished it, and I am already re-reading portions of it. Kudos and Thanks, Ms. Kent, for such a good time!

I.Love.This.Book!

This is one of the few astrology books (and I have MANY astrology books) that I have enjoyed reading cover to cover. I had so many aha! moments throughout this book. Whether you've been a practicing astrologer for years or are the least bit interested in the workings of a horoscope, this is a user-friendly, witty, entertaining and educational book. It's a good read and it's a good reference to have on hand.
